My path into social work didn’t begin in a classroom; it began when I was fourteen years old, when my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Between the ages of 14 and 19, my world revolved around my mother’s illness. Much of my adolescence was spent as one of her caregivers, carrying the weight of responsibilities, sacrifice, and uncertainty while watching someone I loved slowly slip away.
She passed away just before I started university, leaving me to navigate adulthood carrying a grief I didn’t yet know how to express. Like so many people I now work with, I tried to appear strong on the outside while feeling completely lost on the inside.
That experience shaped my life—and ultimately my purpose. Since then, life has continued to teach me difficult lessons through the loss of family members, divorce, betrayal, rebuilding my life, and discovering the incredible resilience that exists within each of us.
Those lived moments, combined with more than three decades as a Registered Social Worker, allow me to meet clients with both professional expertise and genuine understanding. I know what it feels like to wonder if life will ever feel peaceful again. I also know that healing is possible.
Today, I help clients find meaning in their pain, transform adversity into strength, and create lives rooted in hope, healing, and purpose.
