Your First Step

What to Expect

Here is how we begin our work together:

Our journey starts with a complimentary, no-pressure phone consultation.

  • The Goal: To briefly discuss what brings you to therapy and ensure my expertise aligns with your needs.
  • The Connection: This is a “vibe check.” It’s important that you feel a sense of safety and rapport with me before we commit to a full session.

Once we decide to move forward, our first meeting is about understanding your story.

  • Getting to know you: We’ll chat about your background, your current challenges, and the patterns you’ve noticed in your life or relationships.
  • Goal setting: We’ll talk about what “healing” looks like for you. Is it setting boundaries with a narcissistic partner? Navigating a recent loss? Or reclaiming your self-worth?
  • Self paced: This is a process where you are in control. Throughout our time together I’ll gently remind you that you only have to share what feels comfortable. Trust takes time to build and earn, and my only goal is to make sure you feel supported.

Subsequent sessions are typically 50 minutes (for individuals) or 90 minutes (for couples).

  • The Format: While I use proven methods like CBT and DBT, our sessions will feel like a focused, compassionate conversation.
  • The Tools: You won’t just “talk”, you’ll gain practical tools to manage anxiety, reframe negative self-talk, and navigate transitions with grace.
